Lead team members in a fast-paced distribution center environment in execution of daily activities to meet departmental and company goals in order-fulfillment, inventory control, quality, and shipping for all shift operations. In addition, maintain responsibility for inbound and outbound freight contracts, key carrier relationships and transportation channels throughout FIELD’s supply chain. Position requires direct involvement with daily operations and future projects to support company growth objectives and includes providing guidance to multiple company locations.
Essential Functions:
- Commit to FIELD’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Fieldamentals.
- Oversee team members’ daily activities and monitor progress toward meeting performance objectives.
- Conduct periodic team member evaluations.
- Ensure team members obtain training and are in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Lead by example and assist in the development of the team members.
- Responsible for selection and training of new team members required to meet staffing needs.
- Deliver timely and effective communication to team members.
- Engage in team building activities and promoting of Field’s Culture.
- Provide leadership to continually produce improved efficiency and consistency in the standard operating procedures for the Distribution Center.
- Manage and control Freight Expense for multiple Field locations.
- Engage in Strategic Planning in regard to shipping & logistics for Field Operations.
- Develop and maintain Key Carrier relationships for multiple locations.
- Research and negotiate freight contracts.
- Establish Routings and Key Freight decisions for all current DC’s, 3PL’s and other freight partners.
- Serve as the Key Contact for International Freight forwarder, Consolidator and Customs Broker.
- Provide support and direction on all freight activity to Leadership Team, Account Managers and DC personnel.
- Automate and systematize tracking of freight and costs wherever possible.
- Troubleshoot shipping and/or technical issues.
- Meet daily shipment responsibilities, including VMI, Discreet, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and LTL
- Take an active role in supporting and maintaining safety and ISO programs.
- Ensure work areas are clean and organized.
- Operate and ensure proper maintenance of warehouse equipment.
- Fill in for other positions as needed.
Education, Skills and Experience Required:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Polite and professional manner.
- Minimum of 8 years of Leadership experience in Distribution
- Proven track record of results.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Ability to address conflict and concerns with team members.
- Previous Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) experience.
- Previous ERP systems experience (Epicor- P21 product is preferred).
- Working Knowledge of TMS.
- Knowledge of International Shipping, Documentation and overall compliance.
- Understanding of North American Inbound port processing including Container Ships, Drayage, Intermodal Hubs, Rail systems and FCL & LCL delivery.
- Knowledge of conducting business in Mexico. To include border crossing, customs brokerage, transportation and IMMEX program.
- Ability to travel to other FIELD facilities, Customers and Vendors as required.
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook knowledge.
- Strong written/communication skills to interact with internal and external customers and suppliers.
