Kitting Machine Operator

This position has a strong mechanical focus and is responsible for the regular operation of the automated kitting machines.  This role will also conduct preventive maintenance and light repairs to the equipment.  This position requires attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to use tools and equipment needed to operate and troubleshoot machines. 

Essential Functions:

  • Commit to FIELD’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Fieldamentals.
  • Operate kitting machines and equipment designed to create kits/parts for assemblies, including set-ups and proper operation of machine.
  • Load machines with parts per customer order requirements.
  • Program kitting machines to run and create kits to meet customer requirements.
  • Monitor machine parts inventory, order, and re-stock as needed.
  • Troubleshoot kitting machine issues and jams, and work to resolve issues.
  • Conduct proper machine maintenance to keep equipment operating at optimal capacity.
  • Travel to other Field sites to support kitting operations and machine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Communicate verbally and via written methods, regarding order status and machine operation.
  • Perform general duties involving physical handling of product, materials, and supplies.
  • Meet daily receiving, production, and shipment requirements.
  • Take an active role in supporting and maintaining safety programs.
  • Actively embrace and promote a positive work culture.
  • Exhibit a personal commitment to accuracy and quality of work.
  • Use a variety of hand tools to create assemblies to meet customer requirements.
  • Participate in the continual development and improvement of warehouse standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed.
  • Perform continuous bending, kneeling, twisting, lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills and Experience Required:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Polite and professional manner.
    • A minimum of 2 years as a machine operator.
    • A minimum of 2 years in a warehouse or manufacturing operation.
    • Commitment to fulfilling all work expectations and requirements.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and highly motivated.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with computer-programmed machines, with competency in machine set-up.
  • Quality standards/ISO work environment experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with others in a manner that promotes teamwork and a positive work environment.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal and external customers.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to drive results with or without a great deal of direct supervision.
  • Must be open to travel, frequency will vary, 10-15%.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Able to communicate fluently in English.

Additional Skills Preferred:

  • Graduate of a 2-year technical school is preferred.
  • Knowledge of fasteners and fastener inspection preferred.
