Principal Engineer - Field and Park

Part Creation Specialist

This position will have a primary focus on daily part creations, and will work extensively within P21 for updates, reporting, and information management.  This position is heavily administrative, focusing on data entry, computer work, and research as needed.  Partnering and communicating with various functional areas is a daily process and requires excellent communication and collaboration skills. 

Essential Functions:

  • Commit to FIELD’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Fieldamentals.
  • Process and manage all aspects of the Daily Part Creation process, by collaborating with account managers, quality team members, and sourcing (Q-Strat) to confirm all related details, including prints, specs, quotes, and relative information meets new part creation requirements, and make the necessary decisions, to create a new part in P21, while ensuring no duplicates are created. Responsibility includes identifying the correct nomenclature, detailed description, identify the correct product type, and material cost base, confirm and add the correct tariff code, with cross-reference customer P/N’s, and supplier information within P21.
  • Responsible to create pre-defined routings for secondary processes as well as create assembly maintenance to ensure production orders (KITS BOM) are created correctly in P21 per Field COE
  • Responsible to assist with the Print Revision Checklist process to include reviewing customer prints, confirm disposition of any current stock, confirm the supplier has been notified of the change if required, gather input from other functional areas, uploads new data, obsolete old prints in the obsolete print file folder, and updates P21 information to reflect the change.
  • Conduct P21 item merges.
  • Perform P21 item maintenance, edit item ids, and or item descriptions, item notes maintenance, description updates, customer or supplier part number changes, pre-defined routings, assembly maintenance, mass uploads and other updates.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects as assigned.
  • Assist in training Field TM’s on the Part Creations Process, and Field Nomenclature.(Newly Added)
  • Support in correcting the large amount of incorrect part numbers in P21, to reflect the correct Field nomenclature that is required, by editing and correcting for accuracy, removal of duplications and to ensure consistency for future part creations, and future creators. (Newly Added)
  • Assess accuracy and validity of information received from account management prior to uploading new or revised related part information into P21. (This seems kind of the same thing as the 2nd bullet point, or the item maintenance section)
  • Obtain and confirm technical nomenclature from various outlets including, customer prints, industry standard specification, and supplier reference documentation is linked in P21 if required.
  • Fill in for inspections in the Quality Lab as needed.( Jacob, or whomever is in this role could fill in the lab, but he has not since he completed his 5 month training period in the lab.)
  • Support project enhancements within Part Creation and Quality team as needed.
  • Supports Implementation with assisting with Last Piece Identification when required. (Newly Added)

Education, Skills and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Polite and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of P21 and Field processes extremely beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and stay motivated without direct supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of patience and resilience to work through errors and issues.
  • Ability to read and decipher blueprints.
  • High level of attention to detail

  • Able to work successfully in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment and effectively multi-task multiple priorities in a team-oriented environment.(Newly Added)
