Inventory Specialist

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for strategic and efficient disposition of products throughout the warehouse, accurate data collection and accessibility, analysis of available information, investigation of shortages and discrepancies, determining the layout and utilization of stocking areas, and serving as a resource for the receiving and shipping teams. To be successful requires an attention to detail, an understanding of industry and site-specific methods for inventory disposition, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to produce results with limited direct supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Commit to FIELD’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Fieldamentals.
  • Generation and maintenance of capacity and slotting metrics.
  • Support and oversight on all inventory related issues at all Field Distribution Centers (US and Mexico).
  • Disposition of products into designated stocking areas.
  • Regular review of current inventory levels and stocking locations.
  • Maximization of available stocking space to determine most efficient arrangement of products.
  • Collection, analysis, and interpretation of data.
  • Generation of reports as needed.
  • Distribution of information and direction regarding inventory disposition.
  • Leading special projects regarding receiving, shipping, physical layout, and/or inventory.
  • Ability to obtain a passport and willingness to travel in the US and Mexico as needed.

Education, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Polite and professional manner.
  • Proficient in the use of available inventory software, including barcode equipment.
  • Excellent computer operation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of fastener industry products and specifications.
  • Strong project management capabilities and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of Field’s range of products.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think creatively in order to devise best inventory control practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
  • The ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to work with interruptions and then able to re-engage the former project.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; training or education beyond high school is beneficial.

Additional Skills Preferred:

  • Project Management training and experience.
  • ISO9001:2008 understanding.

APICS certification.
