Regional VMI Team Leader

Provide leadership to a team of On-Site Customer Service/VMI Reps that delivers Field’s value proposition of providing outstanding Vendor Managed Inventory Systems and Service to Field customers. The position includes not only providing leadership and direction to the Field team members and temporaries who serve customers but also provides leadership and direction regarding the company’s overall approach to VMI.  The scope of this position is focused in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Essential Functions:

  • Commit to FIELD’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Fieldamentals.
  • Analyze and interpret data related to customer requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Translate strategies into objectives/action plans, and drive execution.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the assigned team members in VMI that includes process improvements, lean initiatives, inventory management, safety, and customer service.
  • Investigate and bring to resolution any quality or delivery issues in an effort to restore or maintain favorable customer relationships.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal team members and customers. 
  • Develop and execute plans for establishing remote VMI sites.
  • Assist with the assessment of team member performance; provide guidance, coaching, training and mentoring as needed to help with individual development.

Education, Skills and Experience Required:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Post high school education, industry certifications, and/or professional advancement in the form of training and development seminars/courses are desired.
  • Polite and professional manner.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Computer skills including the use of Outlook, Excel and other basic applications.
  • A combination of 3 – 5 years of proven performance executing FIELD VMI Systems or similar systems-based responsibilities and demonstrated leadership experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and always track their status.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with internal team members and external customers.
  • Good comprehension skills.
  • The ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Willingness and desire to develop skills to take on additional responsibilities.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule and back-fill to make deliveries as needed.
  • Ability to successfully operate various styles of forklifts, RFQ scanners, and company vehicles.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Additional Skills Preferred:

  • Previous fastener knowledge.
  • Industrial distribution experience.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Business knowledge and experience.
  • Relevant experience and/or college degree.
  • Formal leadership training.
