Sourcing/Quoting Analyst

The incumbent is an organized, solution-driven problem solver with a key role in the management of vendor consigned, supplier stocking program, subcontracted and standard inventory agreements.  Responsibilities include sourcing, purchase order creation and communication, expediting, and overall order fulfillment process. The key metrics for this role are ordering items that arrive at Field locations so that they ship on time to our customers, but also in quantities that support our stated objective of four (4) inventory turns. In addition to purchasing, weekly reviews of subcontractor orders to be proactive in following up with suppliers on delivery and expediting to avoid delivery crisis. Additionally, the responsibilities will be to become the Subject Matter Expert in plating, coatings and packaging.  This person will be responsible to have consistent communications with suppliers within their commodity grouping, as well as, established business reviews.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all supplier agreements in regard to vendor consignment and stocking programs.  This consists of delivery availability, cost structure, length of commitment, monthly forecast and management of supply chain inventory. 
  • Facilitate additional reviews with the Account Managers regarding inventory levels based on monthly open purchase order reviews and MRP reports to generate improved inventory turns.
  • Direct communication with Account Management and Sales to take additional action regarding inventory. 
  • Manage the interaction with all subcontractors thru ongoing business reviews, on-time delivery, transactional reductions, invoice discrepancy reductions, and driving distribution center efficiencies.
  • Conduct meetings with internal stakeholders relating to subcontract work to ensure all issue resolutions are identified and appropriate action is taken.
  • Manage purchase orders on all items that are in standard product groups, meaning items that have multiple customers, ensuring on-time delivery and issue resolution when needed.
  • Coordinate the collection of data relevant to generating and distributing supplier scorecards to preferred suppliers.
  • Serve as a proactive and strategic contact for existing supplier base.
  • Professionally establish, maintain, and grow existing supplier relationships.
  • Responsible for account margins, inventory turns, and on-time delivery on consignment, stocking program, standards and secondary/production orders.
  • Maintain awareness of the marketplace, the competitive environment, the customers’ industry and position in order to recommend strategies and projects.
  • All other duties as assigned or required to meet business needs.

Education, Skills and Experience Required:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Polite and professional manner.
  • Minimum of an Associate degree and/or a combination of education and equivalent work experience in Account Management, Sourcing, or related field required. 
  • Some mechanical aptitude that can be applied to the technical requirements of this position.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a related role required.
  • Excellent communication skills with external and internal customers
  • Ability to work well in a Team environment
  • Able to work successfully in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment and effectively multi-task multiple priorities in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing requirements and schedules
  • Proven problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Windows based Applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Data analysis skills coupled with chart development abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Fundamental knowledge of mathematical concepts.
  • Capable of developing proactive and innovative ideas that drive additional lean activities. 

Additional Skills Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of threaded fasteners, preferred.
  • Some knowledge of “C” class items beneficial.
  • Previous fastener distribution and/or fastener manufacturing experience, beneficial.
