VMI Team Leader Project Lead

This senior VMI role includes such higher level responsibilities as project management, training, overseeing/coordinating the activities of other VMI Reps, and setting up remote VMI sites, which may involve extended travel and interviewing of potential VMI candidates. Additionally, this position serves as a primary customer contact and includes interaction with both potential and existing customers; as well as some suppliers. May serve as a back-up or as additional support for performing VMI duties such as delivering parts, scanning customer bins to create orders, performing material handling activities, and managing inventory levels. The ideal candidate will have a variety of skills and experience including analytical skills, problem solving skills, customer service skills, and material handling skills. The ability to travel on a regular basis is needed for this role.

Essential Functions:

  • Commit to FIELD’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Fieldamentals.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of a new on-site VMI set-up.
  • Engage in project management responsibilities including creation of timelines, assigning tasks, managing cost, customer communication, and coordination of resources.
  • Provide leadership and direction to remote VMI TM’s (Field team members and temporary agency employees) and 3PL partners.
  • Conduct required training for VMI related activities, including safety training and job specific training.
  • Evaluate VMI team member performance and generate formal performance appraisals.
  • Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews with Customers as required.
  • Engage in initial VMI design concepts with FIELD team members and prospective customers.
  • Initiate and/or lead LEAN initiatives to ensure cost effective and efficient systems are in place.
  • Work safely, promote safety, and follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Interact and develop positive working relationships with customer contacts.
  • Perform some Account Management type duties as assigned.
  • Safe operation of all Distribution Center equipment and any Company vehicles.
  • Efficient and accurate delivery and stocking of product, as well as managing inventory levels.
  • Manage details of order processing; create orders utilizing a portable scanning device or other methods, audit bins to maintain appropriate inventory, download and forward order to contact at Field and manage the ordering process to insure the customer and Field objective are met.
  • Report and address quality and delivery issues.
  • Work with Field account managers and customer contacts to insure that everything runs smoothly and meets customer expectations.
  • Perform physical activities that include routine bending, kneeling, climbing, twisting, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel to support Field’s business needs which may include locations in the US and Mexico.
  • Commitment to working all hours as needed to complete daily job requirements.

Education, Skills and Experience Required:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Polite and professional manner.
  • Post high school education, industry certifications, and/or professional advancement in the form of training and development seminars/courses are desired.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Computer skills including the use of Outlook and other basic applications.
  • A combination of at least 1-3 years of proven performance executing FIELD VMI Systems and demonstrated project experience is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Possession of a US Passport for travel out of state and/or out of the country when required.
  • Proven ability to obtain and analyze data via advanced Excel skills.
  • Previous Project Management experience is desired.
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
  • Minimum 1-3 years in a customer service and/or a product delivery role with customer interaction is strongly preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience is preferred.
  • Ability to address conflict and concerns with customers and team members.
  • Polite and professional approach with others.
  • Highly motivated, well organized.
  • Ability to drive results without a great deal of direct supervision, ability to assess and develop solutions to situations that arise.
  • Ability to work flexible hours beyond regular scheduled hours.
  • Industrial distribution experience preferred, but not required.
  • Able and willing to travel as needed is required.
